Shout out to Fresh Cool Drinks food truck on State St by Library Mall. The owner has such a genuine, welcoming presence that will absolutely elevate your day. Food is awesome too. Check it out!

After our most recent visit, I was feeling full of warmth and hope for community and I put that energy towards this painting. Unlike my usual pieces, I skipped the sketch and went straight in with watercolor and then pen work. This approach felt free and organic and I think that lends well to the feeling I wanted to capture. :)

I created this soft background using a wet-on-wet watercolor technique where you wet the paper before adding paint. It’s so satisfying to make backgrounds this way!
